07. Podcast Round-up

I’m just a girl… who is listening to a podcast more often than not.

If you ask me for any advice, 10 times out of 10, I will respond with, “I have this podcast you need to listen to.” Whether I need to laugh, learn, or feel like I am talking to a therapist, I have my podcasts for every occasion, so let me share some of the episodes that have really hit home for me recently:

“I need therapy”:

Psychology of Your 20s: Do you really need closure?

  1. I came across this podcast through Siff Hader’s podcast, Dream Bigger, when she had the author and psychology student Jemma on and fell in love. Not only is it so applicable to the time in life that I am in, but Jemma takes deep topics that we all deal with and brings the most sound advice rooted in psychological theory and presents it all in an entertaining and digestible way. In this episode, she dives into the feelings and thoughts we face at the end of a relationship or friendship, and how universal the thoughts are. The information and advice in this episode gave me the necessary closure I have been desiring. They served as a guidepost forward in the stages of grief that I am personally going through. My biggest takeaway: is the closure that I desire a genuine desire for closure or an itch to squelch the pain of truly moving on? What if the closure is not in an answer or explanation but in their actions.

Tools for a Magnetic Life with Amber Lyon

  1. If you don’t follow Amber Lyon on Instagram, do yourself the favor and do so now @modernmind_. Hearing her personal story for the first time shed so much light on the inquisitive knowledge that she offers through her platform and inspired me to want to read her new book this month. This episode is full of tips and insights on how to tune into your intuition and be a magnet to the people and things that you desire. My favorite takeaway: “Are we really destined to be who we decided that we are, or is there more on the other side of that decision”? Amber goes into how to tune into your most authentic self and rewrite the stories that have created our realities up until this point.

Mel Robins Let Them

  1. To say that I quote this podcast and use this framework daily would be the truth. Although so seemingly simple, the “Let Them Theory” has genuinely changed my life. I first came across it over a year ago, and it has radically transformed my understanding of my own people-pleasing tendencies and need for control in relationships. + Mel is releasing a book about this soon, so I had to mention it!

“I want to learn”

Pursuit of Wellness w/ Organic Olivia

  1. This episode is full of so much tangible tips on mindset and approaches. Olivia cuts the bullshit and gets deep, debunking the way today’s society approaches weight loss and health issues. It was also so interesting to learn more about herbalism and ancient medicine! One of my favorite sound bites from this episode was when Olivia said, “People don’t need more information. They need the self-worth piece that switches them from I have this information to I will act upon this information because I am deserving… “

Wellness Her Way with Lauren Plunk - “Summer Glow Up”

  1. This episode felt like I was sitting in on a hot girl walk conversation! It is filled with so many good tips and routines to implement to feel and look your best. After listening, I bought a few too many products and am changing my shaving routine.

“I want to Laugh”

Therapuss : Payton’s Pregame

  1. This podcast is seriously my saving grace. Each Thursday, I wake up in the best mood ever because a new episode has dropped. This one is so fucking funny, and the banter is unmatched.

That’s all for now !!
